Report

ð  To describe the way things are, with reference to a range of natural, man made and social phenomenon in our environment.
ð  To describe “something” in general.

Generic Structure:
1.       General Classification: tells what the phenomenon under discussion is.
2.       Description/ Identification: tells what the phenomenon under discussion is like in terms of:
a.       Parts
b.      Qualities
c.       Habits or behavior, if living, uses, if non natural

Significant lexicogrammatical features:
a)      Focus on generic/ general participant.
b)      Use of Simple Present Tense.
c)       Use of relating verbs.
d)      Use of general nouns.
e)      Use of technical terms. (e.g. water contain oxygen and hydrogen)
f)       Use of  behavior verbs.
