persuade the readers/ listeners that something should or shouldn’t be the case.
Generic Structure:
1. Thesis:
the writer’s point of view about the topic discussed.
2. Arguments:
the series of arguments which strengthen the thesis state before.
3. Recommendation:
the writer gives recommendation to the readers.
The Grammatical Features:
a) Use
of emotive words (e.g. alarmed, worried)
b) Use
of words that links arguments (e.g. firstly, however, on the other
hand,therefore)
c) Use
of Simple Present Tense
d) Use
of Passive sentences
e) Use
of modals and adverb
f) Use
of subject pronoun (e.g. I and we)
